Ya’ll, there is nothing more jaw dropping than a Minnesota fall. From the moment I first set my eyes on these colors, I fell in love. It was like a chill up my spine that caused an instant overwhelming feeling of joy, that of course ended in happy tears. I had the pleasure of touring The Woods Chapel in Long Lake, Minnesota with one of their staff members, Addison. I needed help navigating my way through the windy roads near Lake Minnetonka and she was beyond patient. Located about twenty minutes from Minneapolis, this wedding venue offers a quiet charm that can only be experienced in Minnesota. Below is a Q and A of details about the one and only, The Woods Chapel.

Q: What is your wedding venues story, how and when was it established?

A: The Woods Chapel has had a church on the property since the late 1800’s. In the 60’s the congregation grew and they tried to move the existing church to the back of the property. Unfortunately the church did not survive the move, so the gentleman who owned the property at the time built the existing church, the cottage, the amphitheater, and landscaped all of the grounds.  The Woods has hosted wedding ceremonies with the present buildings since 1972. Every year we have many couples come back on their anniversary to celebrate.

Q: In your opinion, what is the best month/season to book a wedding at your venue?

A: Although every season provides its own unique and gorgeous aesthetic, an Autumn wedding in Minnesota is really unbeatable. It’s a total sensory experience!  The weather is perfect, the air is crisp, and the colors are truly spectacular. Not only is it great the day of, but the photos that are taken at Autumn weddings always turn out beautifully!

Q: How many people can this location accommodate?

A: Our indoor chapel can accommodate 300 guests while our outdoor amphitheater capacity sits at about 330.

Q: If I there are out of town guests, are there accommodations on the grounds or a place to stay nearby?

A: The Landing Hotel located in downtown Wayzata is a brand new facility that offers blocks for wedding parties.  The Sheraton Minneapolis West Hotel is also a wonderful option located about 15 minutes from us that offers group room block discount rates.

Q: Do you offer on-site coordination?

A: We do include an on-site coordinator within our booking fee. Your coordinator will be there to run your rehearsal and will also be present throughout the entirety of your wedding day to ensure that your, your guests, and your vendors needs are met.

Q: Can we hire our own vendors (caterer, coordinator, DJ, etc.), or must the vendors be selected from a preferred vendor list? If we can select our own, do you offer a list of recommended vendors?

A: With the exception of our in-house sound tech, we do not offer a preferred vendor list; we welcome and look forward to meeting any and all vendors you choose to include in your special day!

Q: What is your favorite part of the wedding day?

A:  Sending the bride down the aisle is hands-down my favorite part of a wedding day.  Typically the moment before she walks down its just her, whomever is walking her down the aisle, and myself, so its a very intimate moment.  I get to see all of the raw emotion, anticipation, and excitement; its really special to witness and reminds me why I love my job.
