Creative Senior Pictures by Jamie Brogdon
State Fair of Texas senior photos sounds epic, right? Our fair legendary, people will come from far and wide to attend our Texas sized fair. However, shooting at the fair is not for the faint of heart. There are so many potential “what ifs” logistically that we photographers have to look out for. Like amount of people and ride or game closures…not to mention the basic photographer rules like lighting, weather and compositions. Challenge accepted.
This day ended up being one of those rare shooting days, where the wind was really low, the temperature was fair, there wasn’t a super high attendance, and the sun was shining so beautifully. Talk about hitting the photographers jack pot! It was the perfect conditions for a perfect day.
Rubi’s mom, Denise was the brains behind this whole idea. She suggested the fair as a way to really showcase her daughters bright and joyful spirit. After knowing Rubi for the past two years, I would have to one hundred percent agree, this is so her. I met these two wonderful ladies while working with the Dragon cheer team a few years ago! Rubi stood out to me as she is energetic, always has a smile on her face, and gives her all on the sidelines while cheering on her high school football team.
The state fair was the perfect way for us to capture creative senior pictures and her personality all in one. Rubi and her family have attended the fair together for years, so this shoot holds so many memories within it beyond the senior photos.
We started out shooting in this gorgeous blue blazer outfit with the carnival games. Changing outfits along the way, we stopped at all the hot spots that everyone knows and loves about the State Fair of Texas. Cotton candy stand, the carousel, and the roller coasters and other fun rides. But really, the MUST at the State Fair in my opinion is those delicious funnel cakes. We ended our evening shooting with stopping at Big Tex and riding one of the ferris wheels for a few cute photos.
This whole shoot was packed full of creative senior pictures, and as a photographer this completely refreshed my soul. The State fair of Texas goes right through my busiest time as a senior photographer, and getting out of my element and trying something new was just the ticket to reignite my love for what I do.
Thank you so much trusting me with this incredible shoot, I can’t believe this year is almost over. Cue the tears as you both are going to be missed greatly, love y’all so much!
