Investing In Your Family Heirloom | What Is My Style?

Hello everyone! I would love to share with you all some insight into my style and vision as a photographer. There are so many different styles out there, and I want you to have the photos you always dreamed of. After all, I am capturing your family as they are, which will one day be an heirloom to future generations.

Having your photos taken can be stress-inducing. Don’t worry, you’re not alone in this department! So much planning and time goes into your photos. So many questions can run through your brain when trying to plan your photos with your loved one(s). What do I wear? Will I be sitting or standing? Will I look okay? Do I smile? Where do I put my hands? There is nothing worse than getting out there, and smiling and humoring your photographer for an hour+. Getting home. Getting the photos back. And having them not be what you were expecting at all.

You are investing in this moment. You are investing in your family legacy. Your heirloom. That is a pretty important investment in my books. From what I hear, wise investors research their investment before buying in. I want you to feel confident in your decision when you make this investment. I want you to feel no stress or confusion about what It would be like having your photos taken, by me. I hope to answer some of these questions about the way I shoot and how I work as a photographer.

If I were to define my style, I would define it under these 3 topics:

L I G H T I N G:

Natural light. Letting as much light in, so its bright & airy. Whimsical. This is defined as Light & Airy, Natural Lighting.

S E T T I N G:

Outside or in peoples spaces (this could include but not limited to- weddings, event buildings and houses). This is defined as Lifestyle.

I N T E R A C T I O N / C O N N E C T I O N:

I capture people interacting & connecting with the space and people around them. Often times, I catch them connecting with me as well. I do not use ‘props’ or create spaces for them to be. (‘props’ being something I brought for them that is not authentic to the moment or themselves) I capture you being you, wherever you are, as the moments unfold. This is defined as Photojournalism.

Other words that describe the overall style: Storytelling. Artistic Photojournalism. Editorial. Detail-Oriented. Authentic. Romantic. Connective.

On another note, I want to connect with my clients and create the most comfortable atmosphere for you to be you. This might mean that I make silly (yet hilarious) animal noises to get you to laugh–I am somewhat silly, at times. I might have you talk to your partner or family members while taking photos. We might go on a walk or do an activity. Through all this, I will look for details to capture within the moment & the surrounding area of your shoot. All the parts that will make up the story of you, so that you will have a visual story for your family heirloom.

This style can be applied to a multitude of different types of photo sesssions: head shots, couples, families, babies, children. Events such as weddings, birthday parties, and family gatherings. Even branding for a small business or marketing photos. The different types of photos within this style are (mostly) endless, but my vision will always stay true: I strive to capture you as you are.

Psst, hey. If you’re reading this, and you realize this isn’t what you want from your photo experience, thats okay! Please, email me and I can send you some recommendations for the style you’re looking for. I want you to be over the moon about your investment in your family legacy. I believe whole heartedly that these are the moments you’ll want to remember, the ones you have with the ones you love. If you’re looking for a studio, boutique or a photographer that has a dark and moody style, let me know! I would love to connect you to the perfect photographer to capture you & your family legacy.
