A few months ago, I decided to focus on intimate weddings. Once I did this, my business has transformed and I have met so many wonderful couples. I had no idea what would come from this, but this little story is of how God connects people.
Once upon a time, I met a sweet wedding florist, Lisa + her office manager, Stacey, at an open house. Back then, I had no idea what our relationship would develop into. So you can imagine my surprise when I look back, almost 2 years later… and see the moment I met these two. They are the most supportive and wonderful women, and I have no idea how I became so blessed with these entrepreneur friends.
God always shows up when you ask Him to. Sometimes, He makes the fireworks blast immediately. But more often than not, He plants seeds that eventually begin to bloom after trials and trust.
When Stacey asked me to photograph her cousins surprise vow renewal, I knew this would be an amazing story!! Kevin had carefully planned the surprise wedding his wife never received. After 20 years of marriage, she was going to walk the isle with her dad by her side.
“If she needs 10 minutes to cry outside, let her. She deserves this”
I remember Kevin saying before his bride arrived to the chapel “If she needs 10 minutes to cry outside, let her. She deserves this”. So as you can imagine, instant tears of joy filled my eyes and everyone around us. The timeline didn’t matter, the ‘wedding day’ wouldn’t be a wedding without them. What mattered most was that they were going to be renewing their vows, and that she was going to finally be a bride.
Hearing little bits of their story was so sweet. Their patience and perseverance to love one another through trials and the hard parts of life, made me feel inspired. Trusting God, even years into a storm, is the route to a fruitful and loving marriage. He never promised it to be easy, but He promised it would be worth it!
